Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity in Ethics and STS of Pediatric Cancer Research and Precision Medicine

We are seeking an individual interested in contributing to a project exploring barriers, opportunities, and the ethical landscape for the implementation of targeted (precision medicine) therapies in pediatric neuro-oncology. The successful candidate will be involved in a large team grant, funded by Genome Canada and CIHR, that is developing new precision therapies to treat pediatric brain tumours and simultaneously exploring the landscape of translating these therapies into clinical trial and clinical practice. Opportunities exist to participate in ongoing projects, but also to develop innovative ideas in the area of the social and ethical aspects of pediatric cancer clinical trials, therapies, drug development, and knowledge translation. The fellow will be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers (sociology, bioethics, oncology, neurology, genetics, bioinformatics, clinical trialists, etc.). The fellow will have opportunities to develop supervisory skills through active engagement with students and new research skills through involvement in a large-scale team project.

Qualified individuals will have completed a PhD in sociology, anthropology, STS, bioethics, or a related field. Experience with qualitative methods and data analytic techniques is required. Demonstrated productivity in terms of published journal articles and excellent written and oral communication skills is an asset. The fellow will be registered as a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University, under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Fishman. Salary is $50,000 CAD plus benefits.
