Professor Rima Apple recently published two papers, highlighting public health in nursing.
“’Women’s mission among women’: Unacknowledged origins of public health nursing,” Nursing History Review, 2018, 26: 55-67
“School health is community health: School nursing in the early 20th century in the United States,” History of Education Review, 2017, 46 (2): 136-149
In this paper, Professor Apple revealed that nurses in the early twentieth century in the USA quickly became accepted, respected members of the school, and the nurses consistently faced financial complications that limited, and continue to limit, their effectiveness in schools and communities.
