Thomas Popkewitz, a new member of the Holtz Center this spring, is currently organizing a three day conference at the University of Uppsalla, Sweden, Sweden’s first University. The conference is called, The International Emergence of Educational Research as Scientific Enterprise: Comparison, Quantification, and Visualizations in the Post-World War II Years. This upcoming international conference will be held in Sweden on May 27-29 and is sponsored by the Swedish Riisbanken. Participants will represent ten different countries, with papers to be published in a book by Routledge with the same title (early 2020). The conference examines the institutional and epistemological changes in the social and psychological sciences related to education after the second World War (WWII); and the implications of those changes in forming the interchange on the science and society.
