The History Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a two-year position with the possibility of renewal for another two years at the rank of visiting Assistant Professor of environmental history to begin July 1, 2020. The department is especially interested in applicants with transnational or global expertise who complement the current fields of the department. The new hire will be expected to teach five courses annually, lower- and upper-level history courses in his or her area of specialization, contribute to the Environmental Studies program, and build curricular bridges to other departments, whether in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, or arts. A Ph.D in History, Environmental Studies, or related fields is required, but ABDs very close to completing their dissertation at the time of application may be considered. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations.
