Monetized values of human life and death profoundly shape economic evaluations of climate policy. I will explain the general role played by these valuations, and will then discuss three different approaches to valuing mortality risks. Finally, I will discuss whether climate policy evaluation can or should proceed without valuing life and death in monetary terms.
