The brown bag series is a discussion showcasing University of Wisconsin–Madison faculty and student work. These are held on alternating Thursdays from 12:30pm-1:30 pm in the Social Science Building.
The Visiting Lecturer Series brings leaders in the field of the social and humanistic studies of science, technology and medicine to campus several times each year. These events are free and open to the public. This section provides abstracts and information about speakers.
One of the wishes of our founders, Robert F. and Jean E. Holtz, was that the Holtz Center make the work of scientists accessible to the public. To that end, in 2008 the Holtz Center for Science and Technology Studies initiated a series, which we hope to make permanent, of public forums on scientific issues which are also of broad concern to the public at large. These forums feature presentations by scientific experts, as well as the opportunity for discussion between scientists and attendees.
The Holtz Center occasionally co-sponsors visiting speakers in other departments, centers, and schools whose work is of interest to the STS community on campus. This section lists those co-sponsored events.
